🤝 Our Partnership with the Pony Racing Authority

Almond Equestrian Academy CIC is delighted to partner with the Pony Racing Authority (PRA), offering young riders the unique opportunity to participate in pony racing through the PRA Pony Racing Academy Scheme. This exciting initiative is designed for riders aged 11 to 15 and aims to introduce them to the dynamic world of pony racing.

🐎 The Benefits of Pony Racing

Pony racing provides an excellent foundation in essential riding techniques and familiarises participants with race day procedures. It inspires children, even those who may not have considered race-riding before, to explore the sport—whether under the Rules of Racing or on the popular Point-to-Point circuit. Most importantly, pony racing fosters a passion and enthusiasm for the sport, which is vital to its continued success and development.

Course Details

The PRA Pony Racing Academy Scheme is funded by The Racing Foundation and delivered at riding centres nationwide, including Almond Equestrian. The course comprises 12 sessions, spread over a period of 3 to 12 months. Participants benefit from both mounted and unmounted coaching sessions, with pony hire and race day costs completely covered by the scheme. Riders are responsible for providing their own safety equipment, which includes a skull cap and body protector compliant with current standards, as well as riding boots featuring a smooth sole and small heel.
